Platinum Open Access publication model is used for journals that publish only OA content and have received outside funding (from one or more sources) to cover the
article processing charges for authors of accepted work.

Journals are not expected to pay an APC and thus can publish their work as OA for free.

Hybrid Open Access publication model lets the author choose whether to publish their article manuscript as open access or as standard subscription-based access. If the author opts to publish the article as open access, the author or funding body pays an
article processing charge (APC) if their work is accepted.

A portion of IGI Global journals operate under a
Gold Open Access (OA) Model.
As Gold OA, authors receive the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licensing arrangement.
The copyright for the work remains solely with the author(s) of the article.
Others may distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the work, even commercially, without asking prior permission
from the publisher or author and so long as they credit the author for the original creation.
All authors are required to sign an author's warranty stating that the materials are original and unpublished elsewhere.
These journals will not publish any material that has been previously published elsewhere.

Article Processing Charges
IGI Global Article Processing Charges (APCs) range from US $1,050 to US $2,300.
Why is an APC Necessary?
An APC is necessary to offset the price of publication. OA Journals (both gold and platinum) are not dependent on
subscriptions any longer and as such, to fund the publication of the journal and its content, IGI Global must collect APCs from the
authors or a funding body of accepted articles in the journal.
What Does IGI Global’s Open Access APC Cover?
In the traditional subscription-based model, the cost to the publisher to produce each standard article is covered by the revenue
generated by journal subscriptions. Under OA, all the articles are published under a Creative Commons (CC BY) license; therefore,
the authors or funding body will pay a one-time APC to offset the costs of all of the processes associated with the publication of the
article manuscript, including:
- Digital tools used to support the manuscript management and review process
- Typesetting, formatting and layout
- Online hosting
- Submission of the journal’s content to numerous abstracts, directories, and indexes
- Third-party software (e.g. plagiarism checks)
- Editorial support which includes manuscript tracking, communications, submission guideline checks, and communications with authors and reviewers
- All promotional support and activities which include metadata distribution, press releases, promotional communications, web content, ads, fliers, brochures, postcards, etc. for the journal and its published contents
- The fact that all published articles will be freely accessible and able to be posted and disseminated widely by
the authors - Professional line-by-line English language copy editing and proofreading*

If your institution does not have open access funding already but does happen to have an electronic resources budget, this
program provides a source of OA funding to institutions that invest in IGI Global’s e-book or e-journal collections.
Low- and Middle-Income Countries
Corresponding authors affiliated to a low- or middle-income country may request a waiver or discount for the Article Processing Charge (APC) should
they be unable to secure funding from an alternate body. A list of

Items to Consider:- Only manuscripts submitted to full Gold IGI Global journals will be considered.
- Authors submitting to Hybrid Open Access journals may choose to publish under the traditional, subscription-based model with no publication fee.
- Authors must request a waiver or discount at the point of submission by filling out and submitting the form below. Requests filed during the review process or after manuscript acceptance will not be reviewed.
- Requests will be reviewed in order of receipt.
- Submittal of request form does not guarantee that a waiver or discount will be approved.
